KABUL, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- A massive car bomb blast and ensuing gun firing struck outside a security forces' training center in the eastern side of Kabul on Wednesday, a witness said.
"The car bomb explosion occurred outside the training center in Pul-e-Charkhi area, Police District 9 roughly at 6:50 p.m. and the blast caused a plume of gray smoke to rise above the scene," Mohammd Wasim told Xinhua.
Several nearby houses were also damaged and the government troops cordoned off the area shortly after the blast, keeping people from gathering at the scene for fears that there might be a second blast.
"Gun firing still could be heard one hour after the explosion in the area and there is fear of possible causalities," he said.
Further details about the incident are still forthcoming amid the absence of any official statement.
No group has claimed responsibility for the blast so far.
The capital city has been hit by series of terror attacks over the past couple of years.
Taliban militant group and Islamic State (IS) outfit had claimed responsibility for nearly all the attacks over the past years in Kabul and across the country.
